Ron & Katrina Mincy have been married for twenty years and have been in business for most of those years. They love operating their business from Findlay Market because in this location all things come together. Findlay Market is a beautiful place because people from all over Cincinnati and neighboring areas converge here to shop. They bring their families, there are street musicians, balloons, the smell of food cooking, street venders and more. "It's a very diverse and colorful place," says Katrina. "I know its sounds crazy, but I really love the hustle and bustle," she says.
Aunt Flora's Cobbler Pies are made with fresh fruits and/or fresh vegetables with homemade crust that may just melt in your mouth. Aunt Flora's Cobbler House and Down Home Diner started using the wonderful recipes that Katrina Mincy, the creator of the business, inherited from her Aunt Flora. Flora Saunders, better known as Aunt Flora, was the sister of Katrina's grandmother. Aunt Flora was not just famous for her pancakes, as she was one of many who portrayed the famous Aunt Jemima, but she could cook anything, from scratch. Katrina started making pies first to raise money for medical bills. While doing so, her grandmother died and left behind some of Aunt Flora's famous recipes. The recipes were given to Katrina and the rest is history. Katrina's pies became three-layer cobbler pies to honor Aunt Flora's Cobbler PIES.
Aunt Flora's Cobbler House and Down Home Diner is also known for its healthy soul food dinners. After an illness, Katrina began to substitute healthy ingredients for the original ingredients that had been used in the past. The result….Soul food even better than ever, and healthy too! Soul food (also known as "comfort food") dinners are made to order at Aunt Flora's Findlay Market stand. Aunt Flora's also has a facility available for private dining and special occasions, by reservations only.
So, stop by soon for some healthy soul food, and take home some of Aunt Flora's specialty home made teas and delicious cobbler pies.
